The Vice-Chancellor of Sam Maris University (SMU), Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Francis Gbore, has called on Nigerians, particularly students and members of the academic community, to embrace the values of sacrifice, discipline, peaceful co-existence and commitment to nation-building as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

Prof. Gbore, in a statement released on Wednesday, congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the celebration, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a season of sober reflection, moral rebirth, prayers and renewed dedication to humanity.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the significance of the celebration extends beyond spiritual observance and should inspire greater commitment to education, character development and service to society.

He urged members of staff of the University to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and continue to provide quality service capable of advancing the growth of the institution and shaping future leaders.

Prof. Gbore also advised students to remain focused on their academic pursuits, stressing that discipline, diligence and sound character remain indispensable ingredients for personal success and national development.

He maintained that universities must not only produce academically sound graduates but also individuals equipped with strong moral values, leadership qualities and the capacity to contribute meaningfully to peaceful co-existence and national progress.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the commitment of Sam Maris University to quality education, innovation, character moulding and the production of globally competitive graduates capable of excelling anywhere in the world.
