Sam Maris VC felicitates Muslims at Eid, urges national unity
The Vice-Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Francis Gbore, has congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
In a statement issued on Friday, Gbore commended Muslims for their devotion, endurance and commitment throughout the holy month.
He noted that Ramadan represents a period of deep reflection and spiritual renewal.
He urged adherents of Islam to sustain the virtues cultivated during the fasting period, emphasising peaceful coexistence and mutual respect in a plural society.
Gbore said the lessons of Ramadan, including restraint, kindness and generosity, should shape interpersonal relationships and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He also called on members of the university community to foster understanding across religious lines, stressing that unity remains critical to sustainable development.
The Vice-Chancellor advised students to stay focused on their academic pursuits and to conduct themselves with discipline and integrity at all times.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes both intellectual and moral growth.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid celebration, Gbore expressed hope that the season will bring renewed peace, progress and prosperity to the nation.
