Former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and a one-time Secretary-General of the Association of  Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), Professor Michael Faborode, has commended the Management of the Sam Maris University , Supare-Akoko, Ondo State on the official commencement of activities of the University.

He gave the commendation while on a courtesy visit to the University on Thursday, 14th September, 2023.

The former Secretary-General of AVCNU was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Gbore, the Registrar and the Acting University Librarian.

Professor Faborode commended the Chair, Board of Trustees and Chief Promoter, Mr. Sam T. Ologunorisa, SAN for the initiative to establish the University, and the level of investment made on infrastructural development, and human resources stating that the take-off of the University was exemplary and commendable.

 He urged the Management Team as pioneer Principal Officers to be resilient and lay a solid foundation for the University in terms of good administrative processes, governance and efficient service delivery that will guarantee high academic standards and excellence in teaching, research and service to humanity.

The University Management Team, led by the Vice-Chancellor took Professor Faborode on a facility tour of the University, inspecting the state-of-the-art infrastructure such as the Senate building, the University Auditorium, the two Faculty buildings of Social and Management Sciences and  Computing and Environmental Sciences, well-furnished Lecture Rooms, Computer Laboratory, Mass Communication Studios, University Health Centre and Library.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the commitment of the University to high academic standards and excellence in research and community development.  He expressed optimism that the University will commence academic activities with its first intakes as all hands are on deck to receive the NUC delegates for Resource Verification of the University’s 18 academic programs for take-off to be domiciled in the Faculty of Computing and Environmental Sciences as well as the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
